To the Army, he's a "Medic", to a Marine, he's a "Corpsman". but either way, when you've been hit, and are wondering if you make it through the next hour, that sweaty, profane angel in grimy utilities who appears out of nowhere personifies mans humanity to man, and is deserving of the highest accolades.
You can't carry a weapon when you've got these on your helmet and arm, and brother, don't think that a red cross makes you bulletproof.

By the way, there's a Navy Hospital Corpsman included in one of the most famous statues in the world.
U.S. Navy Corpsman John Bradley is the second man from the right, and survived the war. He passed away in 1994.
